The Shanghai Energy Conservation Engineering Association is a social group voluntarily formed by influential energy-saving related engineering, technology, products, management, consulting, testing, scientific research institutions, and professionals. It is an important social force in Shanghai's energy conservation cause.
The association is committed to actively promoting the combination of scientific and technological resources and industrial research for energy conservation and emission reduction in Shanghai, with the goal of advancing energy-saving technology progress and industrial development. It is researching and establishing a new mechanism that adapts to the characteristics of energy-saving and emission reduction technology innovation activities. The association will play a bridging and service role between the government and enterprises, fully leveraging the advantages of its members in talent, technology, network, system, etc., to provide support for government decision-making, policy guidance, technical consultation, and promotion of energy-saving technology products for various industries and related enterprises and institutions. In accordance with the requirements of the Shanghai local standard "Energy Conservation Renovation Service Specification", energy-saving engineer qualification training will be carried out.   
The meeting was chaired by Chen Hong, Director of the Shanghai Innovation and Energy saving Technology Promotion Center. Mr. Cao Weiwu, former Party Secretary of Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology and leader of the preparatory group, gave a report on the preparation and establishment of the association. He summarized the current development status of energy conservation and emission reduction in Shanghai, reported on the specific preparatory work of the association, and the work arrangements after its establishment.
The meeting elected a board of directors for the association through anonymous voting. At the same time, a council meeting was held on the same day, electing Mr. Cao Weiwu, former Party Secretary of Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology, as the first president of the association. Vice presidents were Zhang Hao, Vice President of Shanghai Electric Power University, Shou Yongxiang, Vice President of Shanghai Institute of Metrology and Testing, Guo Yansheng, Director of Shanghai Semiconductor Lighting Engineering Technology Research Center, Xu Qiang, Chief Engineer of Shanghai Academy of Building Sciences, Liu Huiping, Deputy Director of Shanghai Development and Reform Research Institute, Yao Weimin, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology Achievement Transformation, Shen Zhonghua, General Manager of Shanghai Putian Energy Technology Co., Ltd., and Chen Hong, Director of Shanghai Innovation and Energy Conservation Promotion Center. Director Chen Hong was elected as the Secretary General of the association for the first term.   
The establishment of the Shanghai Energy Conservation Engineering Technology Association will have a milestone significance in promoting a new situation in energy conservation and emission reduction work in the city. Under the leadership of the first council elected by the member assembly, the association will work hard, explore and innovate, implement the growth project of the Shanghai Energy Conservation Engineering Technology Association, and jointly create a new situation in energy conservation technology innovation work in Shanghai.
